Our Story
It all started with a swipe, some Indian food, and an instant connection. Brought together by an app, a modern day love story. Our parents told us not to talk to strangers on the internet, but oh how wrong they were.
Katie Johnston
Katie grew up in the tiny farm town of Blair, Wisconsin, before convincing her parents to make the move to North Carolina in 2014. After graduating high school, she attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where she began shaping the path that would lead her to a career rooted in care and precision.
Today, she works as a histology lab technologist at Duke University Hospital, where she plays a vital role behind the scenes—helping physicians better understand and diagnose complex illnesses, as well as contributing to groundbreaking treatments conducted at Duke.
In her free time, Katie enjoys reading novels, and dreaming up home renovation projects—keeping Nick, her dad David, and herself busy (and constantly reminded why the previous homeowner’s name has become something of a curse word in their house). When she’s not deciding whether a wall is load-bearing, she’s outside enjoying nature on local trails or climbing mountains in western North Carolina.
Nick Greenway
Nick was born and raised in Wilmington, North Carolina, before making his way to the Raleigh-Durham area in 2018. Not long after, he began his career with Apple, where he supports teams across more than 20 stores, helping bring technology to life in ways that are meaningful, intuitive, and impactful.
In 2025, he founded Aurora Network Solutions, combining his passion for technology with entrepreneurship to deliver networking and security solutions. His work has since expanded to include serving as the head of marketing and social media for a dental studio in Wilmington.
Outside of work, Nick is always building, creating, or refining—whether designing smart home automations or experimenting in the kitchen, where he proudly serves as Katie’s personal chef.
Nick’s drive to tinker comes from his late grandfather, Harold, who was often found in his workshop, hands busy with anything mechanical he could take apart and rebuild. His love of cooking was inspired by his late grandmother, Mildred, with whom he spent much of his childhood in the kitchen learning traditional Southern recipes. To this day, he’s still trying to recreate Nanny’s chicken and wild rice—a dish whose recipe remains a mystery.
